Save 29% on Esse Reusable Bags Only Through Leap Day!

I've mentioned Esse bags (and how much I love mine) a couple of times previously and I have an exciting opportunity if you're interested. They are offering a Leap Day discount of 29% off your order through tomorrow with the promo code LEAP29.

This makes the black grocery bag less than $5 dollars and I think these are phenomenal bags. They hold up to 40 pounds, they're straight and deep and fold up perfectly every time! You may prefer another model, but I am completely hooked on that one, which is made from 42% recycled PET.

Ok, I have to say it... these bags are LEAPS and bounds ahead of those cheap bags places give away as promotional items! Seriously.

You can see all their bags and get this great discount on their site, but only through Leap Day!

FREE Gallon of Milk Printable Coupon!

Hurry over and “like” the Milk Mustache Campaign Facebook page, and then answer a single question to print a coupon for a FREE Gallon of Milk with the purchase of any three breakfast items!  The wording on the coupon is vague on the “three breakfast items” but it also DOES NOT EXCLUDE ORGANIC MILK! However, it does have a maximum value of $4, which really ought to mean if your milk costs more than that, they would simply deduct $4.
You do have to allow an app to run to get the coupon, but realize you can just go remove it afterwards. I am skeptical of apps from some places, but I do permit them in some cases, like this!

SmartSource coupons won’t work with Firefox, so be sure to print in Safari if you need to. I have trouble with SmartSource coupons in Chrome sometimes, too, but I hope it works for you!

Vitacost $10 credit and free shipping with a $22 order.

Vitacost  seems to be offering free shipping today (Wednesday) only with a $22 order (sorry for the late short notice!) but you can still receive a $10 credit if you create a new account. I've posted some previous deals there, and I have about 5 things in my cart as I write this. I click on the emails sometimes, look around and check the specials, and often find some good values.

Also, I've noticed that they'll give you samples of individual teas if you add them to your cart! I think that's great, as I wouldn't want to necessarily buy a whole box if I've never tried it!

President's Day Sale at Open Sky: Sustainable Seafood, A Cheese Making Kit and Lots More

I have not written about Open Sky since just after Thanksgiving, but I had an email that my credit is going to expire, so I clicked through to take a look. Last week, I'd actually been considering telling you about an offer there on Wild Planet tuna and salmon, and was doing a bit of research to verify if it was a good value or not.

If you've not already heard of Open Sky, it's an online shopping site where you select various "curators" to follow. They present products they've personally selected. These are big name folks like Alicia Silverstone, Ming Tsai, Aida Mollenkamp, Lidia Bastianich, Bobby Flay, etc.  If you're browsing and see something you're interested in, you can easily just start following that particular curator for access to the item.

Just by signing up with Open Sky, you'll receive a $10 credit, and they're presently on the last day of a President's Day Sale. One thing in the sale especially stands out to me (Ok, a few things, but I'll force myself to narrow it down!)

Georgia Pellegrini has the Ricki Carroll Basic cheese making kit available for $25 ("The Cheese Queen" of Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle fame)  This is normally $29.95 on her own site, and is usually $29 on Open Sky. I posted a link to Andrew Wilder's Super Easy Cheese recipe a while ago and was planning to try that this week, but I'd love to have this kit to vary the flavors!

It contains a basket mold, vegetable rennet tablets, mesophilic DS starter, thermophilic DS starter, mini budget thermometer, 1/2 oz. calcium chloride, 1 yard re-usable cheesecloth and a recipe booklet to make eight cheeses: Farmhouse Cheddar, Gouda, Monterey Jack, Feta, Cottage Cheese, Colby, Parmesan and Ricotta.

There's also a "Mozzarella & Ricotta" kit that says it contains the ingredients to make Mozzarella 30 times, as well as a "Goat Cheese" kit, each for $21.

The Wild Planet seafood assortment offered by Devin Alexander is not part of the sale, and I've done some checking around to determine if this was a good buy or not. I've come to the conclusion that it is.

If you account for a sign-up credit, but add back the shipping charge - which is sort of a wash - it still works out to a rough average of less than $5 per can, or close to $4 per can. The only item I believe you could get for less elsewhere is the Light Skipjack Tuna, which is on sale at Kroger for $1.99 this week, but I think, overall, this is a good value. On Wild Planet's site, you can buy these at a comparable discount if you buy them in significant quantities.

This offer includes 6 cans of sustainably sourced wild-caught tunas and salmon listed here:
(I've noted price references in brackets.)

  • Wild Skipjack Light Tuna
    [1.99 on sale @ Kroger]
  • Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon
    [4.99 on sale @ Kroger]
[only as low as $5.49 on their site if you bought 24 cans]
  • Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon
[as low as $4.99 on their site if you bought 24 cans]
  • Wild Albacore Tuna
  • Wild Albacore Tuna (No Salt Added)
  • Wild Albacore Tuna (In Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
[as low as $3.99 on their site if you bought 24 cans]

Kath Younger always has items I'm interested in, and this Sunbutter & Crofters's spreads package is a good value at $18, too. (It includes 2 of each variety shown here.)  She's also offering the Back to the Roots Mushroom growing kit for $20, almost exactly what it sells for in the stores.

Shipping seems to be $7.95, and $3.95 for additional items. It also looks as if I can only apply my credit with a particular minimum order, so keep that in mind. You can earn more credits by inviting your friends, as with most of these discount sites, so be sure to invite them to check out the site.

Oh, there is one more thing in the sale that ends today. Martha Stewart has three sizes of a beautiful French Press... sigh.  These always make me think of The Thrifty Mama.

Kath Younger is offering the slightly less breakable one for just $20

Be judiscious and keep in mind that some items may still come down in price!

**UPDATE: I've found this explanation on the site for using the credits:
"
As of January 2012 the grand total of your transaction must equal $40 for OpenSky credits to be applied to your purchase."

Try Out All You Magazine For $1 Per Issue!

UPDATE 2/29/2012 I don't know how long this will last, but you can now get a $6 Shell gift card with a year long subscription at the regular price of $19.95! That would be so handy right now, LOL! Click here to receive ALL YOU plus your free Shell gift card!

I've written previously about All You magazine and listed some of the great coupons that have been in it. If you were interested and would like to see for yourself, I have a couple of offers that may appeal to you.

First, there's a coupon good only on the February issue on Coupons.com. This one will only be on the stands (only at Walmart) for a few more days, but you can see a list of all the coupons it contains here to know if you want to run out for that particular one before it is gone. There are also printable coupons on their site, including another of the same one for the magazine!

And now, for a limited time, by using this link, you can get All You magazine for just $1 an issue! It's just a six month subscription, so you could get it earlier than it gets to the stores for the next six months for just six bucks. I would expect that if you sign up right away, you'd still receive the March issue that just arrived in my mailbox Friday. Obviously, I can't say that for sure, but you could always call and clarify once they process your subscription.

I was delighted to see coupons for Seeds of Change seeds in the magazine for March! These $2/2 seed packets and $2/1 starter kit coupons don't expire till May, so you should have plenty of time to find them in the store. I confirmed one location in my area that does not show up on the store locator on the Seeds of Change site, so I suspect there are more locations than it might appear.  The coupon for Traditional Medicinals tea seems to have become sort of standard in the magazine, and I'm not complaining one bit! And, of course, there's the Pierogi coupon...

This month, All You has also partnered with Energizer and Champions for Kids, a program which facilitates simple service projects, to create boxes for emergency preparedness. Their "Couponing for Good" pledge encourages readers to use their coupons to help others. If you find irresistible deals on "better" products like 100% juices, baking mixes, whole grain pastas, remember that these make great contributions to food pantries. You can also leave coupons in the store for others, or trade with a friend, if you're into different products.

Normally, the subscription rate is $1.66 an issue for 12 months, which I think is already great. I am not always interested in all the coupons, for sure, but the coupons I actually use from each month's copy have always been worth more than my cost for the magazine.  With this opportunity to receive it for just $1 per issue, I encourage you to check it out!

High Value Coupon on Nature Made Vitamins!

There is $5 off one Nature Made vitamin coupon at Coupons.com!

Try zipcode 30303 if you don't see it come up when you click on the Health Care category. I don't usually  "tell zipcodes," but I didn't see it in my own, and I'm not sure about what I've heard. (i.e. that stores in other zips may not be reimbursed for them. What if I'd printed it where I live and used it when I went to visit my Mom???) At any rate, it says nothing on the coupon about a zipcode...

Anyway, here's the really great thing, this brand is presently BOGO at Kroger! It has been BOGO at several other stores, too, but I tend to think the drugstores have higher prices in the first place, so I usually do the BOGO (with coupons, of course) where the price is best.  I thought I was doing well with my $2 coupons this morning...

Also, I've had an account with Nature Made's rewards program for years ~ you simply log that little code on the side of each bottle and accumulate points for your purchases. I usually redeem them for the free (up to $7 value) product coupon, which also pairs very nicely with these BOGO sales!

There are coupons on the Nature Made site and additional Nature Made coupons at Coupons.com, too. There's a coupon for Newman's Own Pasta Sauce there, too, but I am not sure if this is for their organic sauce.

Thanks a bunch to Kerry at Totally Target for bringing this one to my attention!

Even More Coupons...

Here are the latest coupons I've found since the last post. Be sure to check the Coupon page or scroll down through the latest posts to be sure you didn't miss any of the many coupon links I've posted over the past week or so!

I'm so glad to see these first two!
I'll reference them when I see a sale ~ print them before they're gone!

.55¢/ 1 Talenti Gelato or Sorbet

Read more about their products here.

$1/1Green & Black's chocolate

$1/ 1 6-pk of Blue Sky Free Soda
Frankly, I'd rather have been able to use this on any of their natural or organic sodas, but it does state "Blue Sky Free" which is a Stevia/ Zero-calorie version.

$1/2 Stonefire Naan breads
Read further and see their ingredients here. Check the store locator here.

$1/1 Newman's Own Thin & Crispy Pizza

$1/ 3 Balance bars
These were .49¢ each in the last Kroger Mega promotion.

$1/1 SunButter
I've posted this one previously, but a representative from SunButter was kind enough to give me this direct link to the coupon, which is much more straightforward than what I posted before. It is a downloadable PDF, and defaulted to a strange view when I opened it, but it printed just fine.

$1/1 Udi's Gluten Free product

$1/3 Voskos Greek Yogurt
I recommend simply signing up to receive the email link over the Facebook option for this one.

$1/3 Voskos Greek Yogurt
Thanks to Laura for bringing this brand to my attention! It's in my stores, but I'd never noticed!

Greek Gods Yogurts released a coupon on Facebook for .50¢ off any one of their yogurts. The last time I bought this brand, it quickly got me back on a "yogurt, granola and fruit" kick! It was their Strawberry & Honey variety and it was just wonderful: thick and creamy with a smooth sweetness that was not overwhelmingly flavored.

If you're interested in Kashi entrees, they're presently $2.50 at Kroger & $3.29 at Meijer, and one coupon that's still available at Recyclebank is the $2/1 any Kashi product.  (I'm forlorn that most of them are gone, especially the Earthbound Farms one.)

Also, if you run over to this post on Magnolia Pictures' Facebook page, and tell them your favorite healthy meal, you'll be entered to win a copy of Food, Inc.

If you're interested in vegetarian alternative burgers & "faux chicken" products, here are two that are currently on sale at Meijer through the 26th, both at $3.50. I have not yet tried either brand yet, but I was pleased to discover that ingredient wise, while not organic, they are better than MorningStar. I'll note further on each below.

Quorn Fill out the form here to request coupons. These are soy-free, and include non-GM corn.

Gardein These include organic grain and non-GM soy. There are 2 coupons available:
$1/1 (Sign up on their site.)
$1/1 (Like on Facebook.)
I was only able to print one of each of these, unlike the usual "click back" and print a second.

Target Market: Children

I started to write something to go along with this, but it turned into a dissertation of sorts, so I've copied and pasted that to elaborate on another day. Instead, I'll simply post this as one piece of the great big picture.

This thought-provoking infographic comes from Teach.com. I am appreciative that they created it and that they've encouraged sharing it.

Brought to you by Teach.com and MAT@USC.

Mucho Mambo Coupons!

There are some great new coupons available at Mambo Sprouts today!!

$1.50/2 Nature's Path Boxed cereal or granola bars

$1/1 Yogi tea

There are more available there, but those are the ones that seem to be new. Here's another that's especially helpful if you like to buy frozen waffles & pancakes:

$1/2 Van's products
**These are frequently on sale at Kroger stores.

Also, don't miss the $1/3 soups or beans Fig Foods coupon.  These are presently $2 each at Earth Fare, so, 3/ $5 with the coupon.  To enter to win a case of their products, check out the Fig Foods Giveaway on their Facebook page!

Here's the link to the February Messenger in case you didn't see it in your email. There's a link on the last page to a giveaway where you can win a basket full of fair-trade products!  I already know I want to win that, because it will surely include coffee & chocolate! ;)

Lots and Lots of Stonyfield Love!

Stonyfield Farm has quite a few offers & promotions for their wonderful organic yogurts!

To celebrate Valentine's Day, they're promoting their Caramel and Chocolate Oikos yogurt as a "Sweet Indulgence" (with only 110 calories) by giving away 5,000 free cups! Go to the "Indulge With Oikos Sweep" on their Facebook page to enter. These are fat-free, with 10 grams of protein per cup ~ check out the beautiful, organic simplicity of this nutrition label! What a healthy indulgence!

When you enter, the form asks if you're already a member of their Rewards program, which I'd signed up for at some point but wasn't paying that much attention to. It seems like I should look into it further, as there really are some nice rewards and great partners involved! Just by entering codes from the yogurt lids, I could have been accumulating points! I hate when I miss an opportunity like that!

There are multiple printable coupons available regularly on their site. (The Facebook tabs re-direct there.) My primary grocery stores double coupons, so I am always able to get Stonyfield's organic yogurt at a great price. (I do buy it when it's marked down, too, without reservation.)  I get the Greek yogurt most often, and use the plain variety in recipes pretty frequently.

However, I tried the Vanilla fat free yogurt recently, and, WOW, it is fantastic! I see Black Cherry on their site, but I don't remember seeing that in the stores. I'll have to look more carefully, because that's my favorite flavor! Now if they'd just turn that into a frozen yogurt...

They're also introducing the new Facebook page for their "YoKids" line with a sweepstakes!  When you enter here, you'll receive an email with a link to a $1 off coupon! There is a coupon tab on this Facebook page, too, that takes you to the previously mentioned coupons on their site. By helping YoKids grow, we'll help unlock a $2,000 organic grocery prize!

And... don't miss The Lorax Game on their site, a tie-in to the movie, where you can sign up to receive free organic seeds, and then play an easy game to learn something great about those yogurt cups! You can let your kids play the matching game, but be sure to enter info for someone over 18 to register for the seeds.  You'll also enter for a chance to win a special screening of The Lorax movie and an organic garden for your school!

Then there's all the "Sweetitude" festivities which will probably be ongoing for a while, where every 1,000 submissions releases another 100 coupons and 100 cups of Stonyfield yogurt! Here's the main Sweetitude page, where you can enter by posting what "Naturally Sweet" means to you in 100 words or less!

There are a whole bunch of daily prizes, including $100 Whole Foods gift cards, great books by Mark Bittman, Alice Waters & more, the Food Inc. movie, various Stonyfield swag, Cooking.com gift cards, Burton Snowboards, as well as the grand prize trip to Okemo Ski resort in Vermont!  (A few of these appear to not be available anymore, but many of them are upcoming prizes. See the whole list here.)

Finally, the Stonyfield blog has a separate contest that ends at midnight on February 12th, 2012 where you can share how you'll spend Valentine's day for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card!

It's all pretty sweet, if you ask me!

Organic Frozen Pizza, Bunnies & Happiness!

Experts advise using titles that are appropriate and on topic for effective search engine optimization. I think this one's just right... ha ha!

I'm pretty excited to learn about Annie's new Organic Rising Crust Pizza, although it seems to currently only be available at Whole Foods Market. Please keep that in mind in case you want to skip the coupon that's available, which expires March 4th. (This works out perfectly for me, since I'll be stopping by a Whole Foods on the way to my Mom's that weekend!)

And if that were not great enough news, to celebrate, Annie's announced a "Slice of Happiness" contest and the grand prize is a year's worth of their new pizza and a $500 Whole Foods gift cards! I have to say that would be an amazing prize in my household, since my teenager wants pizza nearly every day! A Slice of Happiness, indeed! (Plus, you know we're bunny fanatics over here, right?)

The contest and the coupon are available here on Annie's Facebook page! The top ten vote-getting finalists receive a basket of Annie's goodies! To enter, you have to upload a photo of yourself sharing a moment of happiness with somebody you love! (Maybe somebunny you love?) The official rules are here.

The Bunny-Pizza Karma must be working, because I actually got my son's permission to show you his awesome Bunny Scarf! My step-mom made it for him from a pattern that showed it in Peeps-like colors.  This blog has more detail and some leads on buying the pattern, in case you're interested.

Isn't is awesome?!? This is one of our bunnies, Cocoa... well, his backside, anyway!

More Printable Coupons!

Please don't miss my last printable coupon list as I checked (Monday 2/06) and some of those still seem to be available! There were some great coupons to be had!

Then, there seems to be another opportunity to get the Muir Glen & Cascadian Farm Granola Bars coupons, and they're a little higher value ($1.10 off 2 rather than $1/2) at Eat Better America. This is a General Mills site (Yup, that's their parent company.) and you have to do a simple registration in order to print the coupons.

The Ricola $1/2 Dual Action cough drops coupon is there, too. I saw these at Kroger regularly priced at $2.49 and at Meijer at $1.98 or $1.99.  Earth Fare has Ricola on sale at $2.19 this month, but I don't know yet if that includes this variety.

$1/1 ~ 28 oz. or larger Texmati Rice
(This requires a simple registration, but it prints with a recipe on a full page.)

This one also prints on a full page, and the product is new to me. It's for a beverage called Dream Water, and it contains amino acids and melatonin. i have only just heard of this; you can read further about it on their site, but the coupon is on their Facebook page. It's a downloadable PDF.

Alexia seems to have reset the voting for a new product that goes along with a coupon, on their Facebook page. These are fantastic organic potato and breaded products ~  Mozzarella sticks and Onion Rings! I print Alexia coupons as quick as I can when they come along, and I have gotten some great deals on their products with the coupons and sales.

A Few Facebook Finds...

I've noticed several opportunities on Facebook over the last couple of days for discounts, coupons and more, so here's a little summary:

  • Please go like Reed's Ginger Brew & Virgil's Natural Sodas on Facebook, because they're very close to 5,000 fans and when they get to that number, they're going to do a giveaway! If you have never tried Reed's, you should be able to print a coupon while you're there. (It's under the Promotions tab.)

They produce great natural sodas, and the "Extra Ginger Brew" is downright revitalizing. (I will suggest that you have to truly like that ginger flavor if you get the Extra Brew with its 25 grams of fresh ginger root! I happen to love it!) It looks as if the original ginger brew might have HFCS, though, so do check the labels.

  • Then, check out the GreenCupboards.com "Love War Tug of War" competition on Facebook and vote for one of the products. The winning item will then be discounted, but only to those that participated! Be sure to like them so you know when that happens!
The first round ended yesterday, which might be just as well, since I shouldn't show favoritism, and you know I'm crazy about Simply Organic, right? In fact I have a few more things to post about them, but one thing at a time...

The second round, which runs from today through Valentine's Day, is a serious conundrum: You have to select which product you love more between Equal Exchange (organic, fair-trade) Hot Cocoa and Aura Cacia's Lavender Mist! Fortunately, you can vote once per day! Frankly, I'll be happy whoever the winner is for this one. By voting, you're eligible to win the products, too!
  • You can enter to win Heirloom tomato seeds from Baker Creek by entering on their Facebook page by Valentine's Day. (The giveaway technically ends on February 15th in the morning.) One very lucky grand prize winner will win several varieties, but seven more people will each win all of one variety of their Non-GMO tomato seeds!
  • Lastly, please don't miss these GoodBelly offers! Their Treasure Trove Sweepstakes is till ongoing as they are increasing the amount of likes they have on Facebook.  As they reach various milestones, they're giving away prizes!  I am over-due in posting on how impressed I am with their organic probiotic juices (and I absolutely am impressed) because I'm waiting on library books to give you a thorough account on probiotics in general, but I highly recommend incorporating them into your daily diet!

If you sign up for their 12 day challenge, you'll receive "Buy One, Get One" coupons which makes these half as much per serving and they were already leading in the "probiotic" cost per serving category!

Would You Give Away Books?

You don't have to give away your books, but...

What if you could receive 20 books for free to give away to people who might be light readers or even non-readers? If you are an avid reader, I don't have to try to convince you how important, meaningful and inspiring it can be. It is hard for some of us to even imagine a home without books, but for some that is the case.

The program that I want to encourage you to sign up for is called World Book Night and their mission is "to give books to new readers, to encourage reading, to share your passion for a great book. The entire publishing, bookstore, library, author, printing, and paper community is behind this effort with donated services and time."

They provide the books, and you simply sign up and volunteer enough time to distribute them, and you decide where you want to give them away!  The giving is to occur on Sunday, April 23rd of this year, which is also special to me as it is my Mother's Birthday!

Meijer Best Buys Ending Today!

There were some good prices on produce at Meijer this week (and a few not quite so great) but I was disappointed about one thing when I went to Meijer last week.

More on this at the end of the post...

Ok, here are the real vegetable deals at Meijer just through today:

Organic Potatoes, 5 lb. $2! (I’m buying more than one bag for sure! This is a great price.)

New Printable Coupons!

There are some new printable coupons available that are really exciting to me. (Yes, I get really excited about coupons!) You can't work the deals the way I do if you have not printed the coupons when they're available!

At Coupons.com:
$1/2 Muir Glen Products
$1/2 Cascadian Farms Granola Bars
$1/2 Ricola Dual Action Cough Drops
(I believe these are free of HFCS & I know they use herbal ingredients. Read more here.)
Go here for a third copy of each of the Cascadian Farms & Muir Glen coupons!! (Limited print!)

Wow!
Here's a coupon for $3 off a 16 oz. or larger bottle of Pompeian Olive Oil

(These olive oils are half price at Meijer through Saturday 2/4. P.S. Initially, I couldn't print a second one, but when I clicked on the original link, I was able to print another.)

And then, at Coupon Network:$2/ 2 quarts of GoodBelly Organic Probiotic Juices  I will be blogging about these soon... for now, let me just say that I don't think think I could give them up! Remember the BOGO coupon & the 12 Day challenge!

Currently, MamboSprouts is still showing me "Print Limit Reached" on specific coupons, but I would expect they should be resetting since it's a new month!

Marantha Nut Butters has $1/1 item coupons available on their Facebook page. (You have to allow the app to run on your profile. If you hate this like I do, just remove it after you get your coupon.)

Woodstock Food also has a $1/1 any product printable coupon on Facebook, and you can sign up for their email newsletter HERE for a different $1/1 coupon! (This one expires sooner. )

You should be able to use my email link to register to get a coupon for $1/2 Erewhon cereals.

Sign up here to get various coupons for Lifeway and Helios Kefir. (It's so delicious!)

I also got a coupon for SunButter yesterday, but that was the most bizarre way to go about printing a coupon I've ever experienced! Good luck... think "screen shot" or something. Evidently, it must have been a in-store handout at one point.
